Hegseth Says US Will See Iran War Through to Its Logical End

Washington, D.C۔ (Terror Monitor) — U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said the United States will see its war against Iran through to its logical conclusion.

Hegseth made the remarks while addressing a September 11 memorial ceremony at the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense.

In his speech, Hegseth said that over the past six months, the United States had “crushed the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.”

“Our forces have fought a war against a regime that has wanted us dead for nearly half a century and celebrated the September 11 attacks,” Hegseth said.

He accused the Iranian government of supporting terrorist attacks against Americans for decades and said it had been responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, including U.S. allies, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hegseth also praised President Donald Trump while highlighting what he described as U.S. achievements in the war.

“The United States has eliminated their leaders, destroyed their air force. Their navy is now at the bottom of the sea, and their defense systems have also been destroyed,” the defense secretary said.

He added that the United States was continuing to strike Iranian targets and send Iranian oil tankers to the bottom of the sea.

“We guarantee that Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon,” Hegseth said.

He also pointed to growing economic pressure on Iran, saying the United States maintains control of the Strait of Hormuz.
