Pakistan: 28 Terrorists Killed in Three Security Operations in Balochistan

QUETTA (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani security forces killed 28 terrorists in three separate operations in Balochistan, according to the military and security sources. One army officer was also killed and another security personnel was wounded during the operations.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said 13 terrorists were killed during an operation in Shaban, on the outskirts of Quetta, following an intense exchange of fire.
Several terrorist hideouts were destroyed during the operation, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered, according to the ISPR.
The military said the operation was conducted after intelligence indicated the presence of terrorist hideouts in the area. Pakistani authorities use the term “Fitna al-Khawarij” for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and “Fitna al-Hindustan” for the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The ISPR said the terrorist hideouts posed a threat to the local population.
Six Terrorists Killed in Kech and Quetta
The ISPR said security forces also carried out separate intelligence-based operations in Kech and Quetta on September 22 and 23.
Six terrorists were killed in intense exchanges of fire during the operations, while weapons and ammunition were recovered from them, according to the military.
The ISPR said Army Subedar Muhammad Jameel was killed during the exchange of fire. He was from Taunsa Sharif tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan district in Punjab.
Nine Terrorists Killed in Mastung
Separately, security forces killed nine terrorists during an operation in Kank Valley, Mastung district, according to security sources.
The sources said the terrorists had attempted to attack a security checkpoint in the area. Security forces initially killed two terrorists and then pursued those who fled, killing seven more.
Three motorcycles, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the dead terrorists, the sources said.
One security personnel was wounded in the exchange of fire and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Interior Minister Praises Security Forces
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the operation in Kank Valley and commended them for killing nine terrorists.
Naqvi said the security forces had demonstrated professional capabilities by thwarting the terrorists’ plans. He said operations against terrorist groups would continue and that the Pakistani nation stood with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The ISPR said counterterrorism operations in Balochistan would continue.
