Pakistan: BAP District President Killed in Balochistan, Six Bodies Recovered in Mastung

Quetta (Terror Monitor) — Abdul Rahman Langove, district president of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), a member of Balochistan’s coalition government, was killed in a shooting by unidentified armed men in Nushki district, while the bullet-riddled bodies of six unidentified people were recovered from Mastung district.

Nushki police officials confirmed the killing of Abdul Rahman Langove and said that armed men targeted him outside his home on Sunday night.

Nushki City Police Station SHO Abdul Hai Pirakani told Terror Monitor by phone that the attack on the BAP leader took place outside his residence near Killi Bato, southwest of Nushki city.

According to him, Abdul Rahman Langove sustained critical gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Police officials said an investigation has been launched to determine the motive behind the killing. However, it was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.

No armed group or organization has so far claimed responsibility for the killing of the local BAP leader.

Abdul Rahman Langove was considered a prominent political and social figure in Nushki. In addition to serving as a district office-bearer of the Balochistan Awami Party, he had also served as chairman of Union Council Baghak in Nushki.

Six Bodies Recovered in Mastung

Meanwhile, the bodies of six unidentified people were recovered from Mastung district on Sunday. The victims had reportedly been shot dead.

Government officials said the bullet-riddled bodies were found at two separate locations along the Quetta-Karachi National Highway.

Balochistan Home Department media adviser Babar Yousafzai confirmed the recovery of the bodies but did not provide further details.

According to a statement issued by Mastung police, one body was recovered near the Deputy Commissioner’s House on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway close to Mastung city, while five others were found at Datto Mor.

Police said the bodies were shifted to a hospital for identification and legal procedures under the supervision of City SHO Abdul Rauf Baloch.

However, local residents expressed concern over the bodies being left along the roadside.

Malik Baloch, a Mastung resident, told Terror Monitor by phone that the bodies were lying on the roadside early in the morning and remained there for a considerable period.

He said the bodies were later removed from the site for transportation to Quetta, but were subsequently brought back and placed along the roadside in Mastung.

Malik Baloch further alleged that the bodies were later transported to another location in a Zamyad pickup truck rather than ambulances.

Investigation Underway

The identities of the six people whose bodies were recovered in Mastung, as well as the motives behind their killings, remain unclear. Police investigations are underway.

The two incidents occurred at a time when various districts of Balochistan have witnessed a continued rise in armed attacks, targeted killings and other incidents of violence.
