Pakistan: Three Terror Incidents Hit KP, South Waziristan Attack Foiled; 8 Killed

Washington, D.C. (Shabbir Turi) — Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province witnessed three separate security incidents, including a failed attack on a security checkpoint in South Waziristan, a blast near Tali Dam in Bajaur that killed two people, and a security operation in Dera Ismail Khan that left two militants dead.

South Waziristan: Suicide Attack Attempt on Checkpost Foiled, Four Militants Killed

Security forces foiled an attempted attack on a security checkpoint in South Waziristan, killing four militants, including a suicide bomber, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the attackers attempted to breach the security post using a vehicle packed with explosives. Security forces intercepted and destroyed the explosives-laden vehicle before it could enter the checkpoint area.

According to ISPR, the suicide bomber inside the vehicle was killed, while the checkpoint remained unharmed and no security personnel were injured.

The statement said three other militants fled and took shelter in a nearby building. Security forces pursued them and killed all three during an operation.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that four of its members, including a commander, were killed.

Bajaur: Two Killed in Blast Near Tali Dam

In Bajaur tribal district, two people were killed in a blast near Tali Dam in Salarzai tehsil.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jamal Shah said initial information indicated that two people were killed in the explosion. Rescue teams, police personnel and other officials reached the site and launched relief operations.

According to sources, one body was recovered and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar, while the search for the second victim continued in the waters of Tali Dam.

The deceased were identified as Suleman Qari Faqir and Ghulam Subhan, although officials have yet to formally confirm their identities.

Police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the nature and cause of the blast.

Dera Ismail Khan: Two Militants Killed in Security Operation

Meanwhile, security forces killed two militants during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district.

Security sources said the operation was conducted in the Khoi Bahara area of Kulachi tehsil, where an exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants.

The sources said two militants were killed during the gunfight and their bodies were recovered from the site.

According to security sources, the slain militants were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Gandapur faction.

A search and clearance operation is underway in the area to locate any remaining militants. Authorities are also collecting further information regarding the identities and activities of those killed.
