Pakistan: Two Militants Killed in CTD Operation in Mardan

Peshawar (Terror Monitor) — Two militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the mountainous area of Katlang in Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the Mardan Regional CTD conducted the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants in the mountainous area of Katlang.
Officials said they had received confirmed information that the militants were planning to come down from the mountainous area to carry out terrorist activities.
An exchange of fire took place between security personnel and the militants during the operation, resulting in the deaths of two militants.
Security forces recovered two submachine guns, a hand grenade, six magazines and several rounds of ammunition from the militants, according to CTD officials.
The identities of the two militants are being established, while their accomplices reportedly escaped under the cover of darkness.
A search and clearance operation is continuing in the area to locate and arrest the fleeing militants.
