U.S. Drone Maker Powerus Signs MoU With Pakistan Army, Includes Initial Drone Order

ISLAMABAD (Terror Monitor) — U.S. drone manufacturer Powerus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Army that includes an initial order for drones, according to Reuters.

Powerus co-founder Brett Velicovich disclosed the agreement on Wednesday. The company is backed by the two sons of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Velicovich declined to provide details of the agreement, citing security sensitivities, but said it falls within the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) category. He also declined to disclose the value of the order, citing confidentiality.

The Pakistan Army said Wednesday that a Powerus delegation led by Velicovich met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The meeting discussed defense procurement, production and long-term capability development. The military's statement did not mention the MoU.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the agreement.

Powerus founder and CEO Andrew Fox said Pakistan's private defense sector is still developing and has not yet reached full maturity. He said this creates opportunities for U.S. companies to operate and expand their activities in Pakistan.

Velicovich said Powerus aims to establish a joint partnership combining U.S. and Pakistani technology. He said the company is also exploring the possibility of developing technology in Pakistan.

Relations between Pakistan and the United States remained strained for years, but the agreement comes as ties between the two countries have improved. President Donald Trump has publicly praised Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir, while Islamabad has taken several steps to strengthen ties with Washington in the economic, financial and defense sectors.

Powerus develops aerial and maritime drones for military and industrial applications. The company is preparing to merge with publicly listed Aureus Greenway Holdings, which is backed by Trump's two sons. The companies said the merger is expected to be completed in early October.

According to U.S. regulatory filings, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump hold ownership interests in Aureus Greenway Holdings through an investment fund called American Ventures.

The filings indicate that, following the merger, American Ventures is expected to hold a 9.9% beneficial ownership stake in the combined company.

Powerus founder and CEO Andrew Fox rejected speculation that the company's growth was linked to the involvement of Trump's sons. He said contracts are awarded on merit and that Trump's sons have “no role in business matters.”

A spokesperson for Donald Trump Jr. said he is a passive investor and holds an indirect ownership stake in the company.

The spokesperson said, “President Trump's sons have absolutely no involvement in the management or operations of Powerus and play no role whatsoever in securing contracts in the United States or abroad.”

According to the spokesperson, Trump Jr. had no prior knowledge of the agreement and played no role of any kind in its negotiation, acquisition or completion.
