Iran Executes Man Accused of Working for Israel and U.S. During Protests

Tehran (Terror Monitor) — Iran’s judiciary announced Sunday that Majid Adineh had been executed. Judicial officials said he was arrested in January on allegations of working for Israel and the United States during anti-government protests.
According to Iran’s judiciary-affiliated Mizan Online website, a court convicted Adineh of carrying out activities for “enemy groups,” deliberately setting fires, gathering people and engaging in actions deemed harmful to the country’s internal security.
The judiciary said Adineh and another suspect were arrested on January 9 in Alborz province, west of Tehran. Authorities said a pistol, ammunition, two stun guns, two tear-gas canisters, a rechargeable electric saw and a bottle of gasoline were seized from their possession.
The Revolutionary Court in the city of Karaj sentenced Adineh to death and also ordered the confiscation of his property. Iran’s Supreme Court later rejected his appeal and upheld the sentence, after which the execution was carried out Sunday morning.
According to Norway-based Iran Human Rights and the Paris-based Together Against the Death Penalty, Iranian authorities executed at least 1,639 people in 2025. The organizations said the figure was the highest number of executions recorded in a single year since 1989.
