Israeli Forces Shell Several Areas in Southern Lebanon

BEIRUT (Terror Monitor) — Israeli forces shelled several areas in southern Lebanon early Saturday, including locations in the Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported.

According to the NNA, Israeli artillery targeted the areas of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district, while Wadi Hassan, on the outskirts of Majdal Zoun, was also hit.

The agency reported that after midnight, Israeli forces carried out further attacks in the Bint Jbeil district of Nabatieh Governorate, targeting the areas of Baraachit and Hadatha.

Heavy explosions were also reported in parts of southern Lebanon. Israeli warplanes were seen flying at low altitude over the city of Tyre and surrounding towns and villages, according to the NNA.

International media reports also confirmed the artillery attacks on Mansouri, Majdal Zoun and Wadi Hassan. Haaretz reported heavy explosions in the area, citing Lebanon’s state news agency.

The latest attacks come amid continued Israeli military operations across southern Lebanon despite a U.S.-brokered framework agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel in June. The agreement provides for security arrangements including the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas vacated by Israeli forces.

Israeli forces have continued to conduct airstrikes, artillery fire and other military operations in several parts of southern Lebanon in recent weeks. Earlier reports documented attacks in the Tyre, Nabatieh, Marjayoun and Bint Jbeil districts, including repeated strikes on Mansouri and Majdal Zoun.

Anadolu Agency reported separately that Israeli forces had also used artillery fire against several areas of southern Lebanon in recent days, while Lebanese army specialists were working to dismantle unexploded Israeli bombs in parts of the south.

Lebanese authorities have repeatedly said that the continued Israeli military activity is hindering the implementation of the June framework agreement and the return of stability to southern Lebanon.

No casualties or the extent of damage from the latest reported shelling were immediately available. There was also no immediate detailed statement from the Israeli military on the specific attacks reported by Lebanese state media.
