Pakistan: 10 TTP Militants Killed in South Waziristan, Dir Operations

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Ten militants belonging to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in two separate security operations in South Waziristan and Dir districts of Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in South Waziristan and Dir.

The ISPR said that in Azam Warsak, South Waziristan, militants attempted to attack security posts. Security forces responded promptly and foiled the attack, killing eight militants in an exchange of fire.

In a separate operation in Dir district, security forces killed two more militants, according to the military.

The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants. It added that the killed militants had been involved in various terrorist activities.

The military reiterated that security forces would continue operations until the complete elimination of terrorism from the country.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on August 5 and 6, killing 12 militants affiliated with the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

According to the ISPR, the operations were conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3 based on intelligence reports.

On August 5, six militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Washuk district, while another six were killed in a separate operation in Mastung district on August 6.
