Pakistan Says 85 Militants Killed in Balochistan

Islamabad (Terror Monitor) — Pakistani security forces say 85 militants have been killed during an ongoing operation against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in the restive southwestern province of Balochistan.

According to security sources, the joint operation, codenamed Operation Shaban, involves the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and police. In the latest phase of the operation, six more militants were reportedly killed during ground and aerial strikes.

Officials said security forces carried out coordinated operations targeting suspected militant hideouts and also destroyed a vehicle allegedly used by the militants. Two additional militants were reported killed in a separate engagement, bringing the total number of militants killed in Operation Shaban to 85.

Security sources further stated that 123 TTP militants have been killed since July in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations.

The claims made by Pakistani security officials could not be independently verified.

The Pakistani military frequently refers to TTP militants as "Khawarij," while it describes Baloch militant groups as Indian-backed proxy organizations, often using the term "Fitna al-Hindustan" to describe them. These are official terms used by Pakistani authorities.
