Saudi Arabia Appoints Commander of New Multinational Maritime Defense Alliance

RIYADH (Terror Monitor) — Saudi Arabia has appointed Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Salim Al-Shehri as commander of its newly established multinational maritime defense alliance.
The kingdom announced the creation of the alliance on July 30, saying its mission is to protect international shipping lanes and energy supply routes in the Red Sea.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Rear Admiral Al-Shehri will lead the alliance, coordinate with member states and other maritime coalitions, and oversee the implementation of missions approved under the Saudi-led initiative.
Last month, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that 14 countries, including Türkiye, Pakistan, Egypt, Sudan, and Djibouti, had endorsed the proposed alliance through a joint statement.
