Ankara (Terror Monitor) — Turkey has announced that it will issue an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel’s interception of an aid flotilla carrying humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the decision on Saturday in a post on the social media platform X.
In May this year, Israeli forces detained more than 430 Palestinian rights activists from around 40 countries who were aboard a humanitarian aid flotilla carrying assistance for people in Gaza and transferred them to Israel.
The activists were later evacuated from Israel and transported to Turkey aboard Turkish aircraft.
The activists were part of the Global Flotilla of Endurance campaign and were attempting to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.
Turkey has previously announced arrest warrants against Netanyahu and several senior Israeli officials in connection with Israeli military operations during the Gaza war, alleging genocide.
