Germany Charges Seven Suspected Hamas Members Over Alleged Plans to Attack Israeli and Jewish Targets

BERLIN (Terror Monitor) — German federal prosecutors have charged seven suspected members of the Palestinian organization Hamas over their alleged involvement in planning potentially deadly attacks against Israeli or Jewish targets in Germany and Austria.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe said the suspects face charges including membership in a foreign terrorist organization, assisting in the acquisition of weapons and ammunition, and taking part in preparations for violent acts that could endanger the state.

According to investigators, the suspects, who were arrested in Germany and other countries in recent months, had moved beyond the initial stages of planning and were working on a concrete plot. Prosecutors said they sought to obtain weapons and ammunition to target Israeli representatives, Jewish people or individuals perceived as supporters of Israel.

Authorities said the alleged plot had taken concrete shape by July 2025, with the planned attacks timed for the second anniversary of Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.

Prosecutors also said one of the suspects had recorded a video in which he was prepared to claim responsibility for the planned attacks on behalf of Hamas and announce them publicly.

According to prosecutors, by the time three suspects were arrested in Berlin on October 1, 2025, the group had allegedly obtained an automatic rifle, 13 pistols and more than 700 rounds of ammunition.

Prosecutors said some of the weapons were allegedly transported to Vienna, where another suspect kept them in storage. That individual is facing separate proceedings.
