London (Terror Monitor) — The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said three vessels reported being targeted in attacks near the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours.
According to the British maritime security agency, one of the vessels was a Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier that caught fire after a drone strike.
Qatar has blamed Iran for the attack, although Tehran has not yet issued any response.
Meanwhile, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) was also targeted in the Gulf of Oman, around 16 nautical miles east of the United Arab Emirates’ port of Khor Fakkan.
A third oil tanker was struck by an unidentified object approximately six nautical miles from Oman’s Musandam Peninsula.
Iran had agreed under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached with the United States less than a month ago to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for commercial shipping.
