Jerusalem (Terror Monitor) — The Israeli military said Friday that it carried out an airstrike targeting a suspected militant cell in the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin, killing three people, including a Hamas leader.
Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad also confirmed the deaths, describing the slain individuals as among their key leaders in the West Bank. The other two individuals were identified as Ahmed Turkman and Basel Turkman.
According to the Israeli military, three people were killed in the strike, all of whom it described as “terrorists.”
The military said Qais al-Batawi was among those killed and identified him as being responsible for Hamas’s local activities in the Jenin refugee camp.
The Israeli military claimed that the Jenin camp had been dismantled during its “Operation Iron Wall” and accused al-Batawi of advancing and coordinating multiple alleged militant activities.
The military said the strike was carried out from the air and also killed two associates who were with al-Batawi.
It added that a weapon was recovered from the vehicle targeted in the operation.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad confirmed the deaths but did not immediately provide further details about the circumstances of the airstrike or the alleged activities attributed to the three men.
The latest strike comes amid continued Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank, particularly in and around Jenin, an area that has experienced repeated raids and clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups.
