WASHINGTON (Terror Monitor) — U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed a forceful response to the latest Iranian attacks on American military bases in Jordan, saying Tehran "will be hit hard" following the strikes carried out on Wednesday, July 29.
The renewed exchange of attacks comes after a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran appeared to collapse. According to reports from Tehran, both sides had largely refrained from launching new strikes for several days after nearly two weeks of sustained U.S. airstrikes on Iran. However, hostilities have resumed this week, with Washington and Tehran exchanging attacks once again, raising concerns about a broader regional escalation.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United States and Saudi Arabia announced joint airstrikes against Iran-backed militia positions in Iraq. At the same time, Israel accused the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon of violating the existing ceasefire agreement.
Drone attacks targeting Saudi oil facilities, allegedly carried out by Iran-aligned Iraqi militias, also continued for a second consecutive day.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said the attacks on U.S. bases in Jordan would be met with a strong response.
"We are going to hit Iran hard, and they are going to take a beating," Trump said.
According to AFP, a Fox News correspondent described Trump's message as a warning that the United States would respond with overwhelming force.
