Washington (Terror Monitor) — U.S. Vice President JD Vance said the United States has destroyed Iran’s nuclear program and significantly weakened the country’s conventional military capabilities.
In an interview with Fox News on Saturday, Vance said U.S. actions had severely reduced Iran’s military capabilities, including its unconventional military capacity.
The vice president said Washington is assessing whether Iran is prepared to make long-term changes that could lead to improved relations between the two countries.
Vance said that if Iran is unwilling to make such changes, the United States will continue to maintain pressure on Tehran.
He also said the U.S. government is working to increase oil and gas production in the Middle East. According to Vance, greater energy production would help increase supplies and reduce fuel and energy costs for Americans.
Vance’s comments come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program, regional security and its military capabilities.
The U.S. vice president described the damage to Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities as a major outcome of American actions, although Iran has not immediately issued a detailed response to his remarks.
